CLAUDE CODE / RESUME
Resume a Claude Code session
Claude Code resume means reopening a past terminal session on the same Mac: continue the latest thread, pick from a list, or jump to a session id. AIChatMemory is independent of Claude Code; this page covers Anthropic’s built-in commands first.
Continue the latest session
In the project directory where you last worked, run claude --continue (short form claude -c). Claude Code loads the most recent conversation for that folder.
Open the session picker
Run claude --resume to browse recent sessions, search titles, and reopen one. From inside an active session, /resume does the same without leaving the CLI.
Resume a specific session id
When you already have an id (from the picker or a prior message), run claude --resume <session-id> to open that transcript directly.
When resume is not enough
Built-in resume only sees sessions on this Mac and in Claude Code’s local store. If the fix you need was on another machine, in an old session that aged out, or you only remember the topic—not the id—a separate archive helps. AIChatMemory collects Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor chats, masks them on your Mac, and lets agents search them through one MCP. Masking targets secrets and credential files; it is not a guarantee that no sensitive text remains.
