Resume cheat sheet: Claude Code and Codex

Use this table to reopen the last terminal coding-agent thread on this Mac. AIChatMemory is independent of Anthropic and OpenAI; when resume cannot find an old thread across Macs, use a masked archive with MCP search, count, and session.

Claude Code

claude --continue or claude -c — latest session for this project directory.
claude --resume — interactive session picker.
claude --resume <session-id> — open one id directly.
/resume — picker from inside an active session.

OpenAI Codex CLI

codex continue or codex resume --last — latest session for this directory.
codex resume — interactive picker (project-scoped by default).
codex resume --all — include sessions from other directories.
codex resume <session-id> — open one id directly.
/resume — picker from inside an active session.

Cursor

Cursor is IDE-first: browse prior agent chats in the Agents sidebar or search there. Cursor CLI builds may expose their own resume or list commands; see Cursor’s docs for your version.

When commands are not enough

Resume reloads one local transcript. It does not search every repo, every agent, or every Mac. AIChatMemory uploads masked chats for cross-Mac search. Masking is not a guarantee that no sensitive text remains.
